Surrender Donald, You Lost

Surrender Donald RyePA - 7 Lock’s Brewing, Rockville, MD

Donald Trump and all of his supporters are racists. There’s no hemming and hawing about it anymore. We need to call it out like it is. He himself is a white surpremacist who should never have been elected into his position, but apparently the people who run the country are more interested in voting for someone who would stage a coup to kill them than a woman who was more than qualified. “oH bUt whAt aBoUt beNgHazi???”. Eat me. More Americans were killed in Trump’s attempted insurrection on January 6th than during the Benghazi attack in 2012. No more sugar coating it. If we don’t, we will only see him, or someone else like him with his fake news attitude, come to power again and destroy every essence of democracy this country has left. We’ve always been a racist country, but now is our chance to change that from the ground up. Step one: impeach Trump for every possible thing we can. Step two: hold all of his supporters and promoters accountable. Step three: take a second to breathe and drink a beer, specifically the one I’m about to review. Step four: back to work on ripping out these deeply embedded white surpremacist roots.

Now, you came here to read about the beer, so let’s get to it!

This is one of 7 Locks’ front line beers (originally Surrender Dorothy) just resleeved and might I say, what an incredible improvement to the can art. Big fan of the original red, but I love the poke at the fact that Trump is orange. To be completely honest I’m not generally a fan of RyePA’s, but I didn’t hesitate to hop on board with this one. What sucks about it is that I associate it with rye toast, which I hate, and that’s a silly reason to not enjoy a beer. I’ve had this before and remember enjoying it, but it’s been so long that I don’t remember the taste so this review's first sip is more like a remembered sip. I’m still gonna call it a first sip though because I make the rules here.

First Sip: Pretty damn good - tastes like the fight against white supremacy, which couldn’t taste any more fulfilling. It’s bitter, like Trump was when he was removed from virtually every single social media platform for inciting a literal insurrection. The taste lingers, like Trump’s name will in the history books as the first ever president to get impeached twice. It’s an all around solid go-to, like Trump will go-to prison for everything he’s done to tear down this country. I love it, and I can’t wait to savor it as much as I can, like Trump will have to savor his last moments in office before he is kicked out. Luckily I beat the pre-order rush for this beer and secured a few six packs, so I’ll be enjoying this long after Trump is out of office. I’m definitely going to save one of these cans and put it up somewhere in my house. Gotta have some kind of new decor to represent the end of the worst United States President of all time.

The fight against white supremacy and Trump is not one that can be done solely through call-outs, education, or especially beer blogs. I find myself in a bit of a pickle - I wanted to have participated in the BLM protests but I was also fearful of catching COVID. Considering I work in a retirement community, I didn’t want to take the chance of spreading it to my residents. In order to participate, I would regularly donate to different BLM chapters around the DC, MD, and VA area - I still do. For this entry, I am choosing to instead donate to the Lincoln Project, a group of former Republicans dedicated to removing Trump from office and now keeping him out of office forever. If you’d like to donate too, you can click on the link below:

Their statement on the January 6th attack can be found here:

Please consider supporting the organizations fighting the good fight. I personally feel that outside of educating myself and calling out racism where I see it, I can help from a financial standpoint. I am lucky enough to be able to help out this way, and I hope you are too :) Every penny counts!
